Each piece is a testament to its maker's craft, emphasizing the sense of play and simplicity in everyday objects, and the luck of the firing. This Xi Shi form with a gently articulated spout is amenable to different styles of tea, but particularly suited to sessionable oolong. The deep reddish tint of the pot comes from iron-rich, native Miaoli clay, while speckled flashes of grey-green form from ash flown during kiln firing. The natural luster is not an advertent glaze, but the result of contact with the carbon trapping of charcoal embers.
